FileLens

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026 · App ID: com.malikoglu.filelens · Developer: Malikoglu (Anar Malikoglu)

In short: FileLens is a free document and file viewer. Your files are opened and displayed only on your device — they are never uploaded, not to us and not to anyone else. The app shows ads (Google AdMob) and uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand which file types are opened. These Google services may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address and usage data. There are no accounts and we do not sell personal data.

Your files

When you open a file — from the file picker, or by choosing FileLens in another app — FileLens reads it on your device to display it. File contents, names and paths are never sent anywhere. To make files from other apps (for example WhatsApp or Telegram) reopen later from the Recent list, FileLens can keep a private copy in its own app storage; you can turn this off and delete all copies in Settings → Storage & privacy. Small preview images (thumbnails) are stored the same way.

Data collected by third-party services

We have no servers of our own that receive your data. The app contains the following SDKs from Google:

Data is sent encrypted (HTTPS) and handled under Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Analytics data is kept by Google for a limited period (up to 14 months) and then deleted.

Consent and your choices

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland the app asks for your consent (Google's consent form, IAB TCF v2) before ads or analytics store or read anything on your device. Until you answer, Google Analytics runs in Consent Mode v2 with all storage denied. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options. Everywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android settings.

Data stored on your device

The Recent and Starred lists, reading positions, previews, optional file copies and your settings are stored only in the app's private storage. They are removed when you use Settings → Clear history, clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

Permissions

FileLens uses the internet and network-state permissions only for ads and analytics, and the advertising ID permission added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK. It opens files only when you choose them, using Android's file picker or the “Open with” system — it does not scan your storage and does not access your contacts, camera, microphone or location. Buttons such as “Add to contacts” or “Add to calendar” hand the data to your contacts or calendar app, where you confirm it.

Deleting your data

Use Settings → Clear history in the app, clear the app's data in Android settings or uninstall the app. To request deletion of analytics data, e-mail [email protected] — details on the data deletion page.

Children

FileLens is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date before the new version of the app is released.
